Building important life skills on the road to recovery

Ontario Trillium Foundation is helping WoodGreen build important life skills for our First Step to Home clients through the creation of a new community kitchen.

This new space has been specially designed as a social gathering place and a functional cooking and learning environment. Food preparation, healthy eating, meal planning and meal budgeting are some of the planned training programs that will be implemented in the new kitchen. The program will help our clients regain important life skills that they may have lost, during the time they spent homeless or street involved.

WoodGreen’s First Step to Home is a vital program that helps our clients - men 55 years and older, with a history of mental health and/or substance use issues - transition from living on the streets to living independently.

Thanks to the Ontario Trillium Foundation this community kitchen will provide WoodGreen a proper place to help these men gain the life skills they need to succeed.
